The conference is organised on behalf of CDE, the German Society for Contemporary Theatre and Drama in English.

CDE promotes and conducts research and teaching in the area of recent and contemporary theatre and drama in English in their publications and annual conference, which unites contemporary playwrights, actors, directors, drama critics, academics in the field of theatre and drama, and teachers of theatre and drama in secondary schools.

CDE has the following aims and objectives:

• research on and teaching of recent and contemporary theatre and drama in English,
• organization of conferences with contemporary playwrights, actors / directors, drama critics, academics in the field of theatre and drama, and teachers of theatre and drama in secondary schools,
• publication of scholarly articles and monographs,
• cooperation with theatres, cultural institutes, schools, etc.,
• cooperation with foreign institutions and societies.
