Venue address:
Masarykova kolej (Masaryk dormitory)
Thákurova 1, 160 41, Prague 6
TRAVELLING FROM/TO THE AIRPORT
1. Taxi – whenever using taxis in Prague (both at the airport and in the city), please be careful as taxi drivers sometimes try to scam tourists and charge them higher prices than they would locals. The airport offers both regular taxi service (taxi sign on car) and Uber airport. The price from the airport to the conference venue should be 300-600 CZK. You can also use a Czech app “Liftago”, which functions as an aggregate for licensed taxi drivers.
2. Public transport – to get to the venue by public transport, please take bus n. 59 from the airport. This bus terminates at the green metro line (“Nádraží Veleslavín”). The stop closest to the venue is “Dejvická” on the same line. The venue is then approximately 5 min walk away. You can also use bus n. 59 and exit at “Divoká Šárka”. Here you can switch to tram n. 20, which will take you to “Thákurova” stop, just 1 min from the venue. Both trips will take just over 30 min.
TRAVELLING FROM/TO THE MAIN TRAIN STATION
1. Taxi – There are several taxi stands near the main train station with clear signs once you get off the train. The price from the main train station to the conference venue should be approximately 200–400 CZK.
2. Public transport – to get to the dormitory by public transport, please take the red metro line from “Hlavní nádraží” to “Muzeum” (1 stop). Here, switch to the green metro line in the direction of “Nemocnice Motol” and continue to “Dejvická.” The venue is then approximately 5 min walk away. The total travel time should be around 25-30 min.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT TICKETS
The public transport tickets cost 50 CZK (2 EUR) for 90 minutes and 39 CZK (1,5 EUR) for 30 minutes. You can check the approximate length of your trip on google maps or on the Public Transport website. There are also tickets for 24 and 72 hours should you wish to travel more throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased at all metro stations (by cash or card at a machine), some newer trams (by contactless card), as well as some newsstands. You can also download the Prague Public Transport mobile app “PID Litacka” and buy your tickets via the app (the tickets are slightly cheaper when purchased here).
Please be advised that the printed paper ticket must be validated when you enter the vehicle or the metro corridor (utilising the small yellow boxes), otherwise it’s NOT valid and you can be fined. When purchased in the app, the ticket becomes valid in 60 seconds (or later if you make this selection).
At the airport, tickets can be bought (by cash or card) right by the bus stop in ticket machines.
TRAVELING WITHIN THE CITY
Prague has one of the most efficient and affordable public transport systems in Europe. The network includes metro lines, trams, buses, and night services, all operating under the integrated PID transport system. A single ticket works across all forms of public transport, making it easy to transfer between metro, tram and bus.
Especially in the city centre you will see a lot of trams. In Prague, trams always have the right of way, even at many pedestrian crossings and intersections. Visitors should be especially careful when crossing tram tracks, as trams are quiet, cannot stop quickly, and may approach from either direction. Pedestrians only have the right of way when the pedestrian signal is green, so it is important to obey traffic lights and warning signs at all times. Always check for oncoming trams before stepping onto the tracks and obey traffic signals and warning signs.
Prague is a very walkable city and you can walk from one end of the city centre to the other in approximately 35 minutes (depending on foot traffic). You can of course take trams and metro. While the metro runs until approximately midnight (1 AM on weekends), Prague transport system offers night trams and buses (please be advised that they don’t necessarily follow the daytime routes).
